The Aerial AD 740 from Dantherm is a mobile condensation dehumidifier designed to regulate humidity in closed indoor spaces such as basements, garages and warehouses, lowering critical moisture levels to protect the building fabric and stored materials. It removes up to 34 l/24h (30 °C / 80 % RH), is recommended for rooms up to 200 m² / 500 m³ (construction drying: 140 m² / 350 m³) and collects the condensate in a 6.8 l container or drains it through an optional hose. Power input is 0.8 kW at 230 V, 50 Hz, protection class IPX4, weight 32 kg with folding handle and two wheels.

How it works

The AD 740 dehumidifies by condensation: a rotary piston compressor cools the evaporator, moisture from the room air condenses and is collected, and the drier air is returned to the room. An axial fan moves 450 m³/h (stage 1) or 550 m³/h (stage 2). Ice on the evaporator is removed by automatic hot-gas defrosting, so performance stays continuous under changing conditions. The condensate is collected in the container inside the unit; a "container full" indicator flashes when it needs emptying. Alternatively the water can be drained continuously through an optional drain hose or an optional pump kit.

On the control panel you set the target humidity with the arrow buttons, switch between fan stage 1 and 2 and activate night mode, which runs the unit quietly on stage 1 for 10 hours. The display shows actual and target humidity and operating hours, and an MID energy meter records the power consumption. The keypad locks automatically after 2 minutes without input. A socket on the unit allows a maximum of one further device to be connected; an integrated socket protection prevents operation if more devices are connected.

Key benefits

  • 34 l/24h dehumidification — 34 l/24h at 30 °C / 80 % RH, 18 l/24h at 20 °C / 60 % RH and 14 l/24h at 15 °C / 60 % RH.
  • Automatic hot-gas defrost — keeps the unit working continuously under different conditions.
  • Flexible condensate handling — 6.8 l container in the unit, hose connection possible, optional pump kit available.
  • Energy meter (MID-compliant*) — records the energy consumption on site.
  • Mobile and stackable — folding handle and two wheels; two units of this series can be stacked for transport and storage.
  • Night mode — 10 hours of quieter operation on fan stage 1.
  • Socket on the unit — connect one further device, protected by the integrated socket protection.
  • IPX4 plastic housing — protected against splashing water from all directions.

  • Installation: transport upright with the folding handle and secure against tipping; set up on a level, firm surface; keep at least 1 m clearance in front of the air outlet and the air filter; let the unit rest for about 15 minutes before first start, after transport and after longer storage
  • Optional drain hose: end of hose lower than the drain connection with a slope of at least 5 % (5 cm per metre); do not kink the hose or put its end into water
  • Stacking: maximum two units, feet of the upper unit in the notches of the lower one, secured with lashing straps at the strap fixing points
  • Not for use in explosive or aggressive atmospheres, in wet areas of swimming pools, in rooms with salt or saline liquids (salt content > 1 %), with water outside pH 7.0 to 7.4, or with ozone-treated air, high solvent concentration or high dust load

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between the AD 740 and the AD 40?
Both are described in the same Aerial operating manual and operate almost identically. According to the manufacturer the AD 740 has a folding handle and two wheels, while the AD 40 has carrying handles and feet.

Can I connect a drain hose to the AD 740 instead of using the container?
Yes. Remove the container, attach a suitable hose to the drain connection with a hose clamp and lead it with a slope of at least 5 % into a drain or suitable container. The manufacturer offers the Aerial drain hose 5501-0006 and a pump kit for the AD 740 (0006-0740-030) as optional accessories.

Can other devices be powered from the AD 740?
A maximum of one further device can be connected to the socket on the dehumidifier. If more than one device is connected, the integrated socket protection prevents operation.

How is the AD 740 maintained?
Switch off and unplug the unit, remove the air filter and clean it (for example with a vacuum cleaner) or replace it, check the drain connection and any connected hose, and pull out the drip tray a little and wipe it with a cloth. Use only original filters; the spare filter for the AD 740 is 5107-0067.
