Mould Remediation & Hazardous Substance Abatement

Professional mould remediation and hazardous substance abatement stand or fall with one factor: control of airborne particles. Spores, fibres and fine dust released during removal work must never migrate into adjacent, occupied areas. German regulations and trade guidance therefore require an effectively contained work zone and controlled clean-air handling throughout the project. With the right equipment chain, these requirements become plannable routine: contain, depressurise, filter — and neutralise odours once the work is done.

The remediation workflow

1. Contain the work zone

The first step is a dust-tight separation of the remediation area. The HEYLO HEYWALL Profi-Paket creates a stable temporary dust-protection wall of up to 13 m length (46.8 m²) — erected quickly and without damage to floors or ceilings. Access for personnel and equipment is provided by the HEYLO DCD 3.0 dust-protection door, a complete zip-door set for door widths from 680 to 1,430 mm that keeps the barrier closed between passages.

2. Establish negative pressure with HEPA filtration

A contained zone is only safe when air flows inwards — never outwards. The HEYLO DCS PF 1000 negative-pressure system extracts up to 917 m³/h from the work zone and passes the air through HEPA filtration. The area stays at a permanent negative pressure, so contaminated air cannot escape past the containment.

3. Clean the room air

Inside the zone, a mobile air cleaner continuously reduces the airborne particle load for the crew working there. The TROTEC TAC 1500 moves up to 1,000 m³/h and operates with HEPA main filters of class H13 or H14. Regular filter changes with genuine parts — such as the original TROTEC HEPA H14 main filter for the TAC 1500 / TAC 1500 S — keep separation performance consistent over the full project duration.

4. Neutralise residual odours

After removal and fine cleaning, microbial odours often linger. The TROTEC Airozon Supercracker generates up to 10,000 mg/h of ozone and breaks down odour molecules oxidatively — the final step before handover. Ozone treatment may only be carried out in unoccupied, sealed rooms; ventilate thoroughly before the space is used again.
