Technology — HEPA H14 High-Performance Air Filtration

TROTEC TAC V+ flagship HEPA H14 air purifier (mobile and stationary)

Inside every TROTEC TAC unit: a genuine HEPA H14 filter individually tested to EN 1822, fully potted high-temperature media made in Germany, and a serial-numbered factory test certificate shipped with every machine. This is the technology behind the storefront.

The H14 standard, plainly

HEPA H14 is the highest general-purpose filter class in EN 1822 — the European standard that defines minimum particle separation by filter grade.

  • H13 — 99.95 % retention at the most-penetrating particle size (MPPS).
  • H14 — 99.995 % retention at MPPS. One-tenth the penetration of H13.

For particles around 0.1–0.2 µm (viruses, bacterial fragments, aerosols), an H14 filter captures 99.995 % at first pass. That is the same filter class used in ISO 4 / ISO 5 cleanrooms, pharmaceutical compounding, semiconductor lithography zones, and hospital operating theatres.

Every TROTEC TAC HEPA H14 filter is individually leak-tested, serial-numbered and shipped with a factory test certificate. No batch averages.

The TAC range

Four production models matched to room volume, control needs and budget. A fifth flagship for thermal decontamination and integrated heating is available on special order.

TAC V+ — Flagship

TROTEC TAC V+

  • Airflow: H14 up to 1,000 m³/h standard · up to 2,000 m³/h with Ultra-HighFlow option
  • Room capacity: ~200 m³ at recommended air-change rates
  • Noise: 31–50 dB(A) across speed range
  • Control: Programmable touchscreen, USB-updateable firmware, PIN lockout
  • FlowMatic regulation: constant clean-air volume even as the filter loads
  • Thermal filter decontamination: cyclic 100 °C heating cycle that decontaminates and regenerates the H14 filter — extends service life to 2–4 years
  • Form factor: mobile (wheeled) or stationary (tower); five colour options including stainless steel
  • Power: 0.15 kW typical · 1.25 kW peak during decon cycle

The unit chosen for healthcare wards, pharmaceutical labs, ministerial buildings and any environment that needs uncompromising H14 performance with the lowest long-term cost of ownership.

TAC M — Mid-range

TROTEC TAC M

  • Airflow: H14 up to 1,200 m³/h
  • Room capacity: ~200 m³
  • Noise: 31–50 dB(A)
  • Control: programmable touchscreen (same UX as V+)
  • FlowMatic regulation: yes
  • Thermal decontamination: no — filter service life 1–3 years standard
  • Form factor: mobile or stationary; four colour options

The TAC M delivers the V+ airflow class without the thermal regeneration system — ideal where filter replacement budgets are predictable and decontamination cycles are not required.

TAC ECO — Economy

TROTEC TAC ECO

  • Airflow: H14 up to 1,000 m³/h
  • Noise: 31–50 dB(A) · Silence Mode available
  • Control: manual 6-stage selector switch
  • Form factor: mobile or stationary, basalt grey only

For high-volume rollouts — schools, office floors, hospitality — where central management isn't needed and unit-level on/off is sufficient.

TAC BASIC — Entry tower

TROTEC TAC BASIC

  • Airflow: H14 up to 1,000 m³/h
  • Form factor: stationary tower with wheeled chassis
  • Control: manual 6-stage switch · no filter-change indicator
  • Weight: 73 kg — the lightest tower in the range

Pallet-quantity buyer's choice for distributed deployment — fleet-grade H14 protection at the lowest unit cost.

TAC XT — Multi-airhandler (special order)

TROTEC TAC XT

The TAC XT adds 18 / 27 kW of integrated heating and pest-control capability on top of HEPA H14 filtration and thermal decontamination. We do not hold the TAC XT in stock — but we can supply it on special order for project requirements. Contact us for lead times and pricing.

Filter technology

Two-stage filtration

  • Prefilter — G4 Z-Line (TAC M, XT) or F7 (V+, ECO, BASIC) per EN 779:2002. Catches coarse debris before the main filter to extend H14 service life.
  • Main filter — TROTEC HEPA H14 HighFlow Heat Resistant, fully potted, made in Germany. Each filter individually tested and certified to EN 1822.

Thermal filter decontamination (TAC V+)

Once captured in the filter, biological particles can remain viable for days. The TAC V+ runs a programmable thermal cycle — typically scheduled after-hours — that heats the filter to ~100 °C for 15 minutes after a 15-minute ramp-up.

The cycle uses about 1 kWh of energy. The benefit: filter service life extends from 1–2 years to 2–4 years, and filter handling at end-of-life carries no biological risk. The mechanism is unique to TROTEC.

FlowMatic constant-volume regulation

As an H14 filter loads with particulate, its differential pressure rises. Cheap units lose throughput. TAC V+ and TAC M use FlowMatic — a closed-loop regulator that holds the clean-air volume constant across the filter's entire service life. Air-change rates stay specified to the end.
