The RIDGID SeeSnake nanoReel is a compact, lightweight pipe inspection camera reel for small-diameter lines. It combines a 25 m glass-fibre-reinforced push cable (ø 6.3 mm) with a 15.5 mm colour camera head that has a scratch-resistant sapphire crystal lens, six adjustable high-performance LEDs and an impact-resistant cover. The camera head and push cable are waterproof up to 7 bar, the system negotiates 90° bends in pipes from ø 30 mm, and an integrated 512 Hz sonde allows the camera head to be located from above ground. The complete reel weighs 4.1 kg and is stored in a robust, portable plastic housing.

How it works

The nanoReel is a camera reel without its own screen: it is connected to a monitor unit via its system interface for the RIDGID micro CA-3xx and is powered through that unit (energy supply "via micro CA-3xx"). The push cable is fed by hand from the reel into the line under inspection; the colour camera transmits a live image with a focus range from 10 mm to infinity, and the LED brightness can be adjusted in several steps. Photos (JPEG) and videos (MPEG) are recorded for documentation through the connected monitor unit.

When a point of interest is found, the integrated 512 Hz sonde in the camera head transmits a signal that a locator picks up above ground, so the position of the camera in a buried line can be determined. With the micro CA-300, the RIDGID quick start guide describes switching on the sonde by setting the LED brightness to zero; once the sonde has been located, the LEDs are returned to normal brightness.

Key benefits

  • Professional system that is easy to operate — feed the push cable, adjust the LEDs and record findings; RIDGID describes the nanoReel as a professional system that is easy to use.
  • Small diameters and tight bends — the 15.5 mm camera head and 6.3 mm push cable negotiate 90° bends in lines from ø 30 mm.
  • Robust camera head — scratch-resistant sapphire crystal lens and an impact-resistant cover protect the optics in daily use.
  • Waterproof up to 7 bar — camera head and push cable are waterproof up to 7 bar, so the system can work in water-carrying lines.
  • Locatable camera head — the integrated 512 Hz sonde lets you pinpoint the position of the camera head from the surface with a suitable locator.
  • Adjustable lighting — six high-performance LEDs, adjustable in several steps, for a well-lit image in different pipe materials.
  • Light and mobile — 4.1 kg in a robust, portable plastic housing, with operation independent of the mains supply via the connected monitor unit.

Typical applications

  • Visual inspection of small-diameter drain and supply lines from ø 30 mm, including lines with 90° bends.
  • Locating the camera head and the position of a defect in a buried line with the integrated 512 Hz sonde and a locator.
  • Photo and video documentation of pipe condition (JPEG/MPEG) for inspection reports.

Operating conditions and installation

  • Operating and storage temperature: 5 °C to 46 °C.
  • Operating and storage humidity: 5 % to 95 % RH.
  • Power supply and display: via a connected RIDGID micro CA-3xx monitor unit (not included).
  • Camera head and push cable waterproof up to 7 bar; the connected monitor unit itself is not part of this rating.
  • RIDGID recommends guide tubes made of PVC or flexible pipe when entering via porcelain fixtures, to avoid scratching the surfaces.

Scope of delivery

  • 1 x SeeSnake nanoReel
  • 1 x operating manual

A monitor unit is not included. The nanoReel requires a monitor unit from the RIDGID micro CA-3xx series for display and power.

Accessories

  • Required: RIDGID micro CA-3xx monitor unit (system interface and power supply for the nanoReel).
  • Optional: MultiMeasure Studio PRO software for creating inspection reports from the recorded images (TROTEC software; MultiMeasure Studio STD is available as a download).

Frequently asked questions

Is a monitor included with the nanoReel?
No. The scope of delivery is the SeeSnake nanoReel and the operating manual. The reel is displayed and powered via a RIDGID micro CA-3xx monitor unit, which must be ordered separately.

What is the smallest pipe the nanoReel can pass through bends?
The manufacturer states a 90° bend capability in lines from ø 30 mm. The camera head has a diameter of 15.5 mm and the push cable 6.3 mm.

Can I find the position of the camera head underground?
Yes. The camera head contains an integrated 512 Hz sonde. Its signal can be picked up with a suitable locator above ground to determine where the camera is.

Can the camera be used in lines that carry water?
Yes. The camera head and push cable are waterproof up to 7 bar. RIDGID even recommends letting water run through the line during inspection where possible, as this keeps the system clean and makes pushing easier.
