The Aerial AD 40 from Dantherm is a compact mid-range condensation dryer for construction and building drying. It removes 33.5 l/24h (30 °C / 80 % RH), is recommended for rooms up to 180 m² / 450 m³ and for construction drying up to 120 m² / 300 m³, and weighs only 25 kg. With an MID-compliant energy meter, automatic hot-gas defrost, night mode and a 6.8 l condensate container with overflow protection, it combines professional performance with easy handling. Power input is 800 W at 230 V, 50 Hz, protection class IPX4.

How it works

The AD 40 works on the principle of refrigeration drying: a rotary piston compressor cools the evaporator, moisture from the room air condenses and is collected, and the drier air is returned to the room. An axial fan moves 300 m³/h (stage 1) or 400 m³/h (stage 2). Ice on the evaporator is removed by automatic hot-gas defrosting. The condensate collects in a container inside the unit; the container is monitored and the overflow protection switches the unit off automatically when it is full. Alternatively the water can be drained through an optional drain hose or an optional pump kit.

On the control panel you set the target humidity with the arrow buttons, switch between fan stage 1 and 2 and activate night mode, which runs the unit quietly on stage 1 for 10 hours. The display shows actual and target humidity and operating hours, and an MID energy meter records the power consumption. The keypad locks automatically after 2 minutes without input, and the auto-restart function restarts the unit after a power interruption. A socket on the unit allows a maximum of one further device to be connected; an integrated socket protection prevents operation if more devices are connected.

Key benefits

  • 33.5 l/24h dehumidification — 33.5 l/24h at 30 °C / 80 % RH, 16 l/24h at 20 °C / 60 % RH and 13 l/24h at 15 °C / 60 % RH.
  • Compact and light — 25 kg, 390 x 450 x 580 mm, with carrying handles and feet; two units of this series can be stacked for transport and storage.
  • Energy meter (MID-compliant*) — records the energy consumption on site.
  • Container monitoring and overflow protection — automatic shut-off when the 6.8 l container is full; hose connection possible.
  • Automatic hot-gas defrost — continuous performance under different conditions.
  • Night mode and auto-restart — 10 hours of quieter operation on stage 1; automatic restart after a power interruption.
  • IPX4 plastic housing — protected against splashing water from all directions.

Frequently asked questions

What happens when the condensate container of the AD 40 is full?
The container is monitored: the "container full" indicator flashes and the overflow protection switches the unit off automatically. Release the container lock, empty the container and lock it again. For continuous drainage you can connect a drain hose or the optional pump kit 0006-0040-030.

What is the difference between the AD 40 and the AD 740?
Both are described in the same Aerial operating manual and operate almost identically. According to the manufacturer the AD 40 has carrying handles and feet, while the AD 740 has a folding handle and two wheels.

Can other devices be powered from the AD 40?
A maximum of one further device can be connected to the socket on the dehumidifier. If more than one device is connected, the integrated socket protection prevents operation.

How is the AD 40 maintained?
Switch off and always unplug the unit before cleaning the drip tray. Remove the air filter and clean it (for example with a vacuum cleaner) or replace it; on the AD 40 the filter holder is removed by loosening four marked screws, and the drip tray on the filter cover is wiped with a cloth. Use only original filters; the spare filter for the AD 40 is 5107-0064.
