The RIDGID SeeSnake microReel is a portable pipe inspection camera reel for fast use at changing locations. It combines a 30 m glass-fibre-reinforced push cable (ø 6.7 mm) with a 25 mm colour camera head featuring a scratch-resistant sapphire crystal lens and adjustable high-performance LEDs in a robust stainless-steel housing with an impact-resistant cover. It negotiates several 90° bends in lines from ø 50 mm, even over long distances, and adds a push-cable meter counter and an integrated 512 Hz sonde. Camera head and push cable are waterproof up to 7 bar; the reel weighs 4.7 kg.

How it works

The microReel is a camera reel that is connected to a monitor unit via its system interface for the RIDGID micro CA-3xx and powered through it (energy supply "via micro CA-3xx"). The push cable, which is stiffer than the microDrain cable and better suited to longer distances, is pushed from the reel into the line; the meter counter shows how far the camera has travelled, so the distance to a finding can be read directly. The colour camera has a focus range from 10 mm to infinity, and the three Luxeon LEDs are adjustable in several steps. Photos (JPEG) and videos (MPEG) are recorded via the connected monitor unit.

The 512 Hz sonde built in behind the camera head transmits a signal that a locator detects above ground, so the position of the camera head in a buried line can be determined. The included ball guides (1 x large, 2 x medium) centre the camera head for better image reproduction and reduce soiling by deposits on the pipe bottom. The inner drum is removable, so the push cable can be cleaned or replaced conveniently.

Key benefits

  • 30 m reach — glass-fibre-reinforced push cable for longer runs, with several 90° bends in lines from ø 50 mm.
  • Push-cable meter counter — read the distance to a finding directly while inspecting.
  • Integrated 512 Hz sonde — locate the camera head from the surface with a suitable locator.
  • Protected optics — scratch-resistant sapphire crystal lens and adjustable high-performance LEDs in a robust stainless-steel housing with impact-resistant cover.
  • Waterproof up to 7 bar — camera head and push cable are waterproof up to 7 bar.
  • Ball guides included — one large and two medium ball guides centre the camera for a better image.
  • Light, robust and mobile — compact construction and mains-independent operation via the connected monitor unit, for fast use at changing sites.

Typical applications

  • Inspection of industrial installations with small pipe diameters.
  • Maintenance and inspection of house connection lines.
  • Locating the camera head and the position of a defect in a buried line with the 512 Hz sonde and a locator, with the distance read on the meter counter.

Operating conditions and installation

  • Operating and storage temperature: 5 °C to 46 °C.
  • Operating and storage humidity: 5 % to 95 % RH.
  • Power supply and display: via a connected RIDGID micro CA-3xx monitor unit (not included).
  • Camera head and push cable waterproof up to 7 bar; according to RIDGID, the monitor and other electrical parts and connections are not waterproof.
  • RIDGID advises not to push the microReel cable through a toilet: it is less flexible than the microDrain cable and cannot pass the tighter bends the microDrain handles.

Scope of delivery

  • 1 x SeeSnake microReel
  • 3 x ball guides (1 x large, 2 x medium)
  • 1 x operating manual

A monitor unit is not included. The microReel requires a monitor unit from the RIDGID micro CA-3xx series for display and power.

Accessories

  • Required: RIDGID micro CA-3xx monitor unit (system interface and power supply for the microReel).
  • Optional: MultiMeasure Studio PRO software for creating inspection reports from the recorded images (TROTEC software; MultiMeasure Studio STD is available as a download).

Frequently asked questions

Is a monitor included with the microReel?
No. The scope of delivery is the SeeSnake microReel, three ball guides and the operating manual. Display and power are provided by a RIDGID micro CA-3xx monitor unit, which must be ordered separately.

Can I use the microReel through toilets?
RIDGID advises against it. The microReel cable is stiffer and designed for longer distances; it cannot pass the tighter bends that the more flexible microDrain cable handles. The stated bend capability is 90° bends in lines from ø 50 mm.

How do I know how far the camera is in the pipe?
The microReel has a push-cable meter counter that shows the length of cable pushed in. With the integrated 512 Hz sonde and a locator you can also find the position of the camera head from the surface.

Can the push cable be cleaned or replaced?
Yes. According to the RIDGID manual, the microReel has a removable inner push-cable drum, so the cable can be cleaned or replaced conveniently.
