The TROTEC FS200 is a fog and smoke simulator made in Germany that produces dense white fog from TROTEC FluiTect fog concentrate and blows it out with a powerful, infinitely variable turbine. With an air flow of approx. 68 l/s (245 m³/h), a blow-out pressure of 334 mbar and a maximum power consumption of 3,200 W at 230 V, it can introduce fog over long distances, for example into sewer pipes or large halls, and into structures with strong back pressure such as flat roofs. Typical uses named by TROTEC are leak detection, fire brigade exercises, quality testing and tightness monitoring. The narrow, lightweight aluminium construction with a fold-out canister holder makes it easy to carry, even through narrow points such as safety ladders.

How it works

A pump draws the fog fluid from the 5-litre canister and an evaporator heats it; the turbine then conveys the fog through the 38 mm connection and the fog hose to the point of use. Both the turbine and the fluid pump are infinitely adjustable via two rotary knobs, so fog density and air volume can be matched precisely to the job. Function LEDs show the heat-up phase, "heating ready" and active pump; an operating hours counter is fitted. After a heat-up time of approx. 2 minutes the unit is ready.

The intelligent power coupling of turbine, heating and pump delivers a consistently dense fog flow for minutes without interruptions for reheating, even at maximum turbine output. At maximum output, fog lasts approx. 210 seconds; at the medium setting and below, the FS200 produces continuous fog. Fluid consumption is at most 100 ml per minute and 30 ml per minute in continuous fog mode. On site, the canister holder is unlocked and folded out in seconds, enlarging the footprint for better stability, even on difficult surfaces such as gravelled flat roofs. Coloured smoke can be produced with the optional TROTEC smoke gas chamber and coloured smoke cartridges.

Key benefits

  • Professional quality made in Germany — original TROTEC manufacture with practice-oriented German industrial design.
  • Powerful, infinitely variable turbine — approx. 245 m³/h and 334 mbar blow-out pressure to push fog over long distances and against back pressure.
  • Extra-dense white fog — the infinitely adjustable fluid pump lets you set fog density precisely.
  • Uninterrupted fog flow — intelligent coupling of turbine, heating and pump for consistently dense fog for minutes, without reheating breaks.
  • Integrated, space-saving design — fold-out canister holder increases stability on site and folds away for transport.
  • Easy to carry — robust lightweight aluminium construction in a narrow format, portable even through safety ladders.
  • Low fluid consumption — max. 100 ml/min at maximum output, 30 ml/min in continuous fog mode.
  • Service-friendly — the air filter can be changed in seconds.

Typical applications

  • Leak detection, for example on flat roof constructions (foil and bitumen roofs) and in sewer pipes.
  • Fire brigade exercises and fire simulation, with coloured smoke via the optional smoke gas chamber.
  • Quality testing and tightness monitoring, for example of ducts and large halls.

Operating conditions and installation

  • Electrical connection: 230 V / 50 Hz, plug CEE 7/7; max. power consumption 3,200 W.
  • Protection class: IP54.
  • Operating and storage conditions (operating manual): 5 °C to 45 °C at below 80 % RH.
  • Installation site: sufficiently large, firm, non-flammable and non-heat-sensitive surface, free of vibration; minimum distance of 2 m to flammable or heat-sensitive objects; sufficient fresh air supply.
  • Operation on generators: asynchronous generators with a rated output of at least 4 kVA (230 V); bring the generator to operating temperature without load before connecting.
  • Extension cables: high-quality cable with a cross-section of at least 2.5 mm², fully unwound.
  • Use only the original TROTEC FluiTect fog concentrate. TROTEC warns that third-party fog fluids can produce harmful decomposition products and may damage the device. Do not use in potentially explosive areas or on people or animals; wear respiratory protection in enclosed rooms and when using the smoke gas chamber.

Frequently asked questions

Which fog fluid can I use in the FS200?
Only the original TROTEC fog concentrate FluiTect. A 5-litre canister is included and refills are available (article no. 3.510.010.025). TROTEC warns that third-party fluids can produce harmful decomposition products and may damage the device.

Can the FS200 run on a generator?
Yes. According to the manual, the generator must be asynchronous with a rated output of at least 4 kVA (230 V) and should be brought to operating temperature without load before the FS200 is connected.

How long can the FS200 produce fog?
At the medium setting and below it produces continuous fog, consuming about 30 ml of fluid per minute. At maximum output, the operating manual states a fog time of approx. 210 seconds at 100 ml/min.

Can I produce coloured smoke?
Yes, with the optional TROTEC smoke gas chamber and coloured TROTEC smoke cartridges, for example for fire simulation in fire brigade exercises or for tightness tests in ducts. The FS200 fog can be mixed in if the heating is preheated.
