The TROTEC VSP-Control is the control unit at the heart of the TROTEC VSP inspection system (inspection system VSP3041). Whether a pipe camera, video endoscope or borescope is connected, the VSP-Control acts as the imaging unit for every connected camera module, with one consistent logic for all control and operating settings. It has a 7-inch colour LCD (800 x 480 pixels, Wide VGA, 600 cd/m²), an 11.1 V lithium-polymer battery pack plus external power supply, USB and an SD card slot, and a rugged ABS housing rated IP64.

How it works

Camera modules are connected via the multi-plug socket on the top of the unit: either the push-cable drum of the pipe camera system or one of the TROTEC video endoscope (VSP-VS) and borescope (VSP-BS) probes. The VSP-Control then shows the live image and lets you adjust brightness and zoom, take photos (JPG, 1,024 x 768) and videos (AVI, 640 x 480 [4:3] or 800 x 480 [16:9]) and manage the memory. With the camera head VSP-H41M of the pipe camera system, the head can also be rotated and swivelled from the VSP-Control. According to the VSP3041 operating manual, the unit is operated via the rubberised keypad and a touch display; recordings are stored on SD card and can be transferred via USB. Round heads on the back allow the unit to be locked onto the push-cable drum VSP-R30 for transport and use.

Key benefits

  • One control unit for all VSP modules — pipe camera, video endoscope or borescope are all operated with the same control logic.
  • Rugged for site use — ABS housing with side rubber protectors, hand straps and a rubberised keypad, protection class IP 64.
  • High-contrast display — 7-inch Wide VGA colour display with 600 cd/m²; a light-protection shade can be clipped on when needed.
  • Mounts on the push-cable drum — round heads on the back lock the unit onto the push-cable drum VSP-R30 for transport and use.
  • Battery status at a glance — integrated battery capacity indicator.
  • Protected connection — multi-plug socket fitted with a protective cap.
  • Full camera control — rotate/swivel camera head control (VSP-H41M), brightness, zoom, photo/video recording and memory management.

Typical applications

  • Pipe inspection as part of the TROTEC VSP3041 inspection system with push-cable camera
  • Video endoscope inspections with TROTEC VSP-VS probes
  • Borescope inspections with TROTEC VSP-BS probes
  • Inspection of concealed machine parts and cavities that are difficult or impossible to access (purpose of the VSP3041 system according to its operating manual)

Operating conditions and installation

  • Power supply: 11.1 V lithium-polymer battery pack (rechargeable battery data: 12.6 V nominal voltage, 7 Ah, Li-polymer) or external power supply; the VSP3041 manual gives 7,000 mAh and a charging time of 8 h
  • Protection class: IP 64
  • The VSP-Control has no camera of its own; a camera module (push-cable camera, video endoscope VSP-VS or borescope VSP-BS) must be connected via the multi-plug socket
  • According to the VSP3041 manual: do not use in potentially explosive areas, in aggressive atmospheres, in live electrical environments or on people or animals; use only in de-energised installations and objects; do not use the control part with display under water
  • TROTEC does not state an operating temperature range for the VSP-Control in the product data

Scope of delivery

  • VSP-Control
  • Light-protection shade
  • Rechargeable battery(ies)
  • Battery charger
