The TROTEC TFV 100 Ex is an explosion-protected radial fan designed to ATEX Directive 2014/34/EU for ventilation applications in ATEX zone 2 (marking II3G, T4) where high back pressure occurs, for example on long conveying runs with several connected air transport hoses. It delivers up to 4,000 m³/h free-blowing and 2,000 m³/h at 2,020 Pa, with a maximum pressure of 2,800 Pa, on a 400 V / 2,200 W drive. Ventilation removes substances such as paint and varnish vapours, welding fumes, dust particles, carbon monoxide, nitrogen oxides, carbon dioxide and water vapour, and in many areas it is required by occupational safety rules and official regulations.

How it works

Unlike an axial fan, the TFV 100 Ex moves the air perpendicular to the impeller axis on the principle of a centrifuge: the air is pressed outwards and compressed in a spiral (volute) housing. This gives the fan stable characteristic curves and continuously high pressure even against the back pressure of long hose runs. The unit has one fan stage and can be connected to intake ducts as well as to discharge ducts, so it works for both supply and extract ventilation. Switch, cable and plug are approved for use in potentially explosive atmospheres. TROTEC asks users to consult its service staff about the use of explosion-protected fans before deployment.

Key benefits

  • ATEX explosion protection — designed to ATEX Directive 2014/34/EU, explosion protection group II, category 3G, temperature class T4, for ATEX zone 2.
  • Built for back pressure — up to 2,800 Pa and 2,000 m³/h at 2,020 Pa, for long conveying runs with connected hoses up to 40 m.
  • Ex-approved electrics — switch, cable and plug are approved for use in explosive atmospheres; matching coupling plugs for extensions are available for zones 1, 2, 21 and 22.
  • Motor outside the main air flow — the fan motor sits outside the main air stream.
  • Supply or extract — connects to both intake and discharge ducts.
  • Robust housing — powder-coated steel housing with a highly resistant two-component paint finish, very resistant to aggressive ambient conditions, splash-proof design to IP55; on request in any desired steel grade.
  • Made in Germany — development, design and manufacture 100 % TROTEC.

Frequently asked questions

In which explosion protection zone may the TFV 100 Ex be used?
The standard version is designed to ATEX Directive 2014/34/EU with marking II3G, T4 for ATEX zone 2. TROTEC offers versions for category 2G (zone 1), 2D (zone 21) and 3D as an option. Please consult us and the manufacturer's service staff about your specific Ex application before ordering.

What electrical supply does the TFV 100 Ex need?
A 400 V, 50 Hz connection. The rated current is 7.8 A, the recommended fuse is 10 A, and the fan has a CEE 16 A connection plug. Power consumption is 2,200 W.

How much air does the TFV 100 Ex deliver against back pressure?
Free-blowing it delivers up to 4,000 m³/h; at an air pressure of 2,020 Pa it still delivers 2,000 m³/h. The maximum air pressure is 2,800 Pa, and the maximum hose length is 40 m.

What is the maximum temperature of the conveyed air?
