TROTEC TFV 600 Ex – ATEX Explosion-Protected Radial Fan, Zone 2 (16,000 m³/h)
Available to order: typical lead time 5–10 working days. We confirm the exact date after your order or enquiry.
The TROTEC TFV 600 Ex is an explosion-protected radial fan designed to ATEX Directive 2014/34/EU for supply and extract ventilation in ATEX zone 2 (marking II 3G, T4). It delivers up to 16,000 m³/h free-blowing and still 10,000 m³/h at 4,000 Pa, with a maximum pressure of 4,900 Pa. It is built for high air volumes against high back pressure, even over long runs of several connected air transport hoses: according to TROTEC it maintains a high air volume over hose distances of 50 metres with several bends. Ventilation removes substances such as paint and varnish vapours, welding fumes, dust particles, carbon monoxide, nitrogen oxides, carbon dioxide and water vapour, and in many areas it is required by occupational safety rules and official regulations.
How it works
Unlike an axial fan, the TFV 600 Ex moves the air perpendicular to the impeller axis on the principle of a centrifuge: the air is pressed outwards and compressed in a spiral (volute) housing. This is what gives the fan its stable characteristic curve and continuously high pressure on long hose runs. The unit runs on one fan stage with a 400 V, 18,500 W drive and a star-delta circuit. It can be connected to intake ducts as well as to discharge ducts, so it works for both supply and extract ventilation. Switch, cable and plug are approved for use in potentially explosive atmospheres. The manufacturer photos show the control box with main switch, operation and fault indicator lamps and control on/off buttons. TROTEC asks users to consult its service staff about the use of explosion-protected fans before deployment.
Key benefits
- ATEX explosion protection — designed to ATEX Directive 2014/34/EU, explosion protection group II, category 3G, temperature class T4, for ATEX zone 2.
- High pressure on long hose runs — up to 4,900 Pa and 10,000 m³/h at 4,000 Pa, for hose distances of 50 metres with several bends.
- Ex-approved electrics — switch, cable and plug are approved for use in explosive atmospheres; matching coupling plugs for extensions are available for zones 1, 2, 21 and 22.
- Motor outside the main air flow — the fan motor sits outside the main air stream.
- Supply or extract — connects to both intake and discharge ducts.
- Robust housing — powder-coated steel housing with a highly resistant two-component paint finish for aggressive environments, splash-proof design to IP55; on request in any desired steel grade.
- Made in Germany — development, design and manufacture 100 % TROTEC.

Frequently asked questions
In which explosion protection zone may the TFV 600 Ex be used?
The standard version is designed to ATEX Directive 2014/34/EU with marking II 3G, T4 for ATEX zone 2. TROTEC offers versions for category 2G (zone 1), 2D (zone 21) and 3D as an option. Please consult us and the manufacturer's service staff about your specific Ex application before ordering.
What electrical supply does the TFV 600 Ex need?
A 400 V, 50 Hz connection. The rated current is 32 A, the recommended fuse is 32 A, and the fan has a CEE 63 A, 400 V, 5-pin connection plug. Power consumption is 18,500 W.
Is the transport frame shown in the photos included?
No. The standard version comes without a frame. The galvanised steel frame with transport castors, forklift slots and crane lifting corners is available as an optional accessory and allows two units to be stacked.
How long can the hose run be?
TROTEC states that the TFV 600 Ex maintains a high air volume even over hose distances of 50 metres with several bends. At an air pressure of 4,000 Pa it still delivers 10,000 m³/h.
Can the fan be used for both supply and extract ventilation?
Yes. It can be connected to intake ducts as well as to discharge ducts.
